On World Water Day, an exhibition and book promotion titled “Lives Shaped by Water” was held at the Museum of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka on Friday, March 22nd.
The exhibition explores the connections between people and rivers through the lenses of seven renowned photographers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. It will be open until April the 5th. The 26 exhibited photographs capture moments spent by rivers and various identities that reveal our complex relationship with rivers.
Accompanying the exhibition is Boris Maksimović’s book “Lives Shaped by Water”, which presents rivers to readers in a unique way through a blend of factual information and the author’s impressions. The book’s uniqueness is further highlighted by illustrations from Banja Luka artist Nataša Konjević. The book is also available in electronic format at this LINK.
The exhibition and book are part of the “Together for Rivers” initiative, which aims to protect over 400 kilometers of rivers in the region, supported by the U.S. Forest Service. The initiative was launched by the international nature conservation organisation The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in partnership with Center for Environment, the Dinarica Association and Novi Val from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eko-tim from Montenegro, Eko-svest from North Macedonia, and the Rzav Ecological Association from Serbia.
