Energy and Climate Change
Under the scope of the Energy and climate change program we are strongly advocating for:
- Decentralization, relocalization and democratization of electricity production
- Increasement of renewable energy resources that have a minimal impact on the environment
- Decarbonization of the energy sector
- A just energy transition, with lowering negative effects on the environment and the people
This program was launched after the campaign against the construction of hydro power plants in the Vrbas canyon. Since then, we are fighting against harmful energy projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their negative impact on the environment, health and economy. This includes advocacy work in the energy sector against hydro power plants, coal-fired power plants and similar harmful projects.
We are also focused on promoting real renewable energy sources (solar and wind) and encouraging positive examples of citizens’ energy production and so amplifying the urge of decentralization and democratization of energy production in order to accelerate the process of decarbonization while introducing a fair and just energy transition
BASIC ACTIVITIES:
- Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency
- Monitoring and advocacy in the coal sector with a focus on coal-fired power plants
- Campaign against plans for small hydro power plants and support for campaign against hydropower plants across BiH
