The Center for Environment, in cooperation with the City of Gradiška, held a workshop on the Sava Route and the revitalization of cycling traffic in cities. The workshop took place on December 22 and 23 and was attended by a large number of participants, primarily representatives of municipalities and cities from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop began with a film screening and continued with a field visit to examples of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, which included touring locations of interest both on foot and by bus, allowing participants to see infrastructure at more remote sites as well. The day then continued with the session “Revitalization of Cycling Traffic in Novi Sad” by Marko Mazalica – President of the Novi Sad Cycling Initiative and a representative of the Institute for Urban Mobility of Serbia – and concluded with group work in which participants were tasked with designing short-term and long-term measures for the revitalization of cycling traffic in four selected municipalities.

This workshop is one in a series of events that the Center for Environment, on behalf of the CIVINET network for Slovenia, Croatia, and Southeast Europe, is organizing in 2025 and 2026, with the aim of connecting municipalities and cities, as well as civil society organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that are interested in improving sustainable urban mobility in their local communities. CLIMove is a continuation of the CLIMASUM project, whose activities were carried out during 2022 and 2023.

The CLIMove project addresses the need for sustainable urban mobility in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It promotes climate-neutral urban mobility through capacity building, education, and cooperation among various stakeholders in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the project is to strengthen local authorities, young professionals, and the general public in implementing sustainable mobility solutions.

This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI).
