Yesterday, in the premises of the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka, our activist group organized a “Trampa Party.” The name “Trampa Party” is a wordplay on the Serbian verb trampiti, meaning “to barter” or “to exchange goods,” reflecting the core idea of the gathering: to encourage participants to swap second-hand clothing and items instead of buying new ones. Participants had the opportunity to bring their old clothes, books, and other items that still have practical value and exchange them for items brought by others. Through events like this, we highlight alternative habits that can contribute to reducing the amount of waste each person produces.
We also screened the film “The Story of Stuff”, which shows how excessive production and consumption affect the environment, society, and our health, calling for systemic change toward a more sustainable model.
The “Swap Party” was organized by activists who took part in the youth exchange in Selce, hosted by our partner organization Green Action, where they were given the task of organizing an event in their own city that promotes the circular economy, draws attention to consumerism, and raises awareness about waste management.
These activities are part of the project “THE STORY OF THE 1.5°C LIMIT – Solutions and storytelling of youth from the Western Balkans,” supported by the European Commission.
