The Center for Environment, in cooperation with the Development Agency of the City of Prijedor, held a workshop on the topic of multimodality and integrated passenger transport, focusing on the potential of combining public transport, passenger rail transport, walking, and cycling. The workshop took place on May 29 and was attended by a large number of participants, primarily representatives of municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop began with the session “Integrated Passenger Transport and Non-Motorized Mobility – Barriers to Development and Why We Must Overcome Them”, led by Ante Klečina from University North. This was followed by a field visit to the bus and railway stations, as well as examples of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

The next session was “City Transformation as a Result of Integrated Transport and SUMP Adoption”, led by Goran Lampelj from the organization ODRAZ – Sustainable Community Development. The workshop concluded with group work to develop measures for improving urban mobility on this topic within their local communities.

This workshop is the first in a series of events that the Center for Environment, on behalf of the CIVINET network for Slovenia, Croatia, and Southeast Europe, will organize in 2025 and 2026. The aim is to connect municipalities, cities, and citizens’ associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina that are interested in improving sustainable urban mobility in their local communities. CLIMove is a continuation of the CLIMASUM project, whose activities were carried out during 2022 and 2023.
The CLIMove project addresses the need for sustainable urban mobility in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It promotes climate-neutral urban mobility through capacity building, education, and cooperation among various actors in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the project is to empower local authorities, young professionals, and the public to implement sustainable mobility solutions.
This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI).
