The Center for Environment held a workshop on the topic of participation and sources of financing in the preparation of SUMP documents. The workshop was held on April 18 and 19 in Sarajevo, and the present representatives of municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to partially familiarize themselves with the guide “Urban mobility and participation in decision-making: When and how can citizens participate?” ” – which the Center has just published.

THE GUIDE IS AVAILABLE HERE

The workshop started with blocks related to the presentation of the importance of participation, as well as participatory models in the adoption of SUMP documents, and continued with a presentation on the current work of GIZ and the possibilities for financing the creation of SUMP documents. The first day of the workshop ended with group work conducted by Jelena Brkić and Alma Midžić in which representatives of municipalities and cities could choose a formal model of participation that best fits the context of their local community, but also come up with a new, informal model.

The second day of the workshop began with a field visit to locations of interest in Sarajevo organized by association ’Giro di Sarajevo’, and continued with presentations by representatives of the city administrations of the City of Bijeljina and the City of Zavidovići, that is, the participatory models used in these local units when preparing SUMP documents.

This workshop is one of a series of events that the Center for Environment, in front of the CIVINET network for Slovenia, Croatia, and Southeast Europe, is organizing in 2022 and 2023, with the aim of connecting municipalities and cities, as well as citizens’ associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who are interested in promoting sustainable urban mobility in their local communities.

The CLIMASUM project deals with issues of the future of mobility in the context of sustainability, participatory approach, and priority strategies for the future of Europe, through smart, sustainable, and innovative mobility planning in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI).
