The Center for Environment, in cooperation with the City of Bijeljina, held a workshop on sustainable urban mobility measures, challenges, indicators, and evaluation. The workshop was held on December 22 and 23, and was attended by a large number of, primarily representatives of municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The workshop started with the block of presentation of the SUMP document of the City of Bijeljina, and the measures from this document, as well as their evaluation. Furthermore, the evaluation of the SUMP document of the City of Belgrade was presented, from the civil society perspective. The first day of the workshop ended with group work, during which the participants had the opportunity to think about the methodology of evaluating measures for their municipalities. The second day was reserved for a field visit to the locations where some of the SUMP Bijeljina measures are implemented. The workshop ended with a block of two lectures on the challenge of expanding pedestrian zones, based on examples presented by representatives of the Municipality of Bugojno and the City of Zagreb.
This workshop is one of a series of events that the Center for Environment, in front of the CIVINET network for Slovenia, Croatia, and Southeast Europe, is organizing in 2022 and 2023, with the aim of connecting municipalities and cities, as well as citizens’ associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who are interested in promoting sustainable urban mobility in their local communities.
